           Duncan Alan Stallard was a minister of the gospel in the Methodist Protestant Church, and a school teacher. at Wise, Virginia, US.2 Hehad a home which was located in the Hurricane section of Wise County, VA and is known as Duncan Gap, in honor of Duncan Alan Stallard.2

Duncan, himself, lies in what was once the middle of the cemetery with children and grandchildren buried all around. Duncan Alan fell while tending hogs and became crippled which eventually led to his death. He was called "Daddy Duncan" and Elizabeth, "Pretty Granny" by their grandchildren.2
     Duncan Alan Stallard died on Jul 30, 1894 at Scott, Virginia, US, at age 79.1,2
     Duncan Alan Stallard left a will on Aug 22, 1894. The Will of Duncan Alan Stallard as recorded in the Wise County Circuit Court Clerk's Office; August 22, 1894; Book 3 Page 453:

In the name of God Amen, I Duncan A. Stallard, Sr. of Wise County, Virginia being of sound mind and memory and knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof do make publish and declare this my last will and testament, as follows.
(First) I desire that my body be decently buried.
(Second) I will that all of my just debts be paid as soon as convenient after my decease.
(Third) I will to my beloved wife, Elizabeth J. Stallard, all my money, personal property good and chattels, notes and evidence of debts and all my real estate consisting of two tracts of land, one containing 125 acres on the waters of birth field [Birchfield] creek and the other tract supposed to contain 10 acres lying on the waters of Cranes Nest Creek, during the period of her natural life to be used by her for the purpose of her support and maintenance that she have power to sell the same and use the proceeds thereof so far as it is necessary for her comfortable support and at her decease, I will that after her just debts are paid whatever property or real estate that may be left be equally divided among the heirs of William A. Stallard, my deceased son that they are all to get what would have been the equal share of William A. Stallard had he been living at my decease, and my following children to wit: A. J. Stallard, Sr., Martha J. Hubbard, Margaret A. Powers, Jalia W. Russell, Mary L. Bevins, Lucy J. Yates, Ralleigh H. Stallard, Elizabeth Powers and Laura T. Powers.
(Fourth) I direct that A. J. Stallard, Sr. qualify as the executor of my will of whom no bond shall be required, neither shall he receive any compensation for his services as such Executor.
