She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Wise, VA, active in United Methodist Women, both at the local and conference level. She was a member of Fortnightly Club in Wise, VA and a member of Boone Trail Chapter of DAR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Ella Elam; brothers, Leland and Bill Elam; and a great-granddaughter, Ansley Mae Smith. Surviving are a son, B. G. Jennings, Jr. and wife Sheila of Tarboro, NC; two daughters, Jennifer Kelly and husband Pat of Charlottesville, VA and Susan Smith and husband Gary of Wise, VA; grandchildren, Eric Smith, Celeste Smith, Michelle Hallahan, Ian Kelly and Michael Jennings; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Kathleen Jennings will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Rev. Philip Bates, Rev. Mike Winters and Rev. Jennifer Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Wise Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 857, Wise, VA 24293.
