I JAMES H. COX, of the County of Scott and State of Virginia owing to the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and now being of sound mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament.
1st, I give my soul to God who gave it.
2nd, after my burial and funeral expenses are paid, I want my daughter, AMANDA JONES amply paid out of my effects for attending on me during my sickness, I also will to her my cupboard, also one red cow, 2nd, I desire the remainder of my effects to be equally divided among my several heirs, I desire MARY FLANARY haste to be paid individually as she needs it.
3rd, I desire all my just debts settled first, I desire my children to divide my household plunder and farming tools among themselves, if they can, and if not let them get three of their neighbors to divide it for them, given under my hand this 5th day of February 1894.
