He is survived by his widow and five daughters: Mrs. Margaret Gilreath, Mrs. Taft Blair, Mrs. Margie Rutledge, Mrs. R. H. Armstrong and Mrs. Clay Crawford, all of Surgoinsville; four sons also survive: Paul, Holly and Bob of Surgoinsville and G. E. Gilreath of Church Hill.

The body will remain at Wilson Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon at which time it will be taken to the home in Carters Valley.

The Masonic Lodge will have charge of the services at Oak Dale Cemetery following services at Oak Dale Church Sunday at 2 p.m.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Wallen, Jr., Surgoinsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Smith, Key West, Florida; Rhonda and Curt Kendrick, Kimberly and Dwayne Neal, all of Surgoinsville; two grandchildren, Charlena Kendrick and Zion Neal; one brother, Bob Gilreath, Surgoinsville; two sisters, Ruth Armstrong and Martha Crawford, both of Surgoinsville; several neices and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Anderson and Elder Fred Gilreath officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery.

Margie Gilreath Rutledge was born December 1, 1911, and went to her heavenly home on May 7, 2005, at the age of 93. She was born in Scott County, Virginia but spent most of her life in Hawkins County. She was a charter member of Oak Dale Central Baptist Church and was a member of Fairview Chapter # 80, Order of Eastern Star. She worked for 25 years in food service at Surgoinsville High School.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gale Rutledge, her parents, Lloyd and Virgie Carter Gilreath, two sisters, Buna Vesta Gilreath and Emily Blair, four brothers, Everette Gilreath, Holly Gilreath, Leonard Gilreath and Paul Gilreath.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Leo and Loretta Rutledge, Jonesboro, Indiana, W. E. Rutledge, Surgoinsville; one brother, Bob Gilreath, Surgoinsville; three sisters, Ruth Armstrong, Martha Crawford and Margaret Wallen, all of Surgoinsville; four grandchildren, six step grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 P. M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted Tuesday at 8:00 P. M. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Fred Gilreath, Rev. Jerry Anderson and Rev. Ken Christian officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery.

The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of choice.

Martha Jane Gilreath Crawford, 85, of Surgoinsville went home to be with Jesus on Monday morning (August 14, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. Mrs. Crawford was a longtime member of Oakdale Central Baptist Church in Surgoinsville.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Clay Crawford of Odenville, Alabama; her parents, Lloyd & Virgie Carter Gilreath; her brothers, Everette Gilreath, Holly Gilreath & Paul Gilreath; her sisters, Emily Blair, Margie Rutledge & Margaret Wallen along with an infant brother & infant sister.

Martha Jane Crawford is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, who never left her side during her illness, Clay Crawford; her two sons, Charles Howard Crawford & his wife, Pam (Rogersville), Glen Crawford & his wife, Cynthia (Surgoinsville); two daughters, Carolyn Anderson & her husband, Rev. Jerry (Church Hill), Linda McLain & her husband, Lester (Fall Branch); her grandsons, Jonathan Crawford & his wife, Angela (Mobile, Alabama), Brian Anderson & his wife, Robin (Mount Carmel), Ethan Crawford; her granddaughters, Melissa Hamilton & her husband, Jamie (Church Hill), Rachel Tipton & her husband, Jimmy (Church Hill), Jennifer McLain (Fall Branch); a great grandson, Matthew Hamilton; a step great grandson, Benjamin Simpson; two great granddaughters, Afton Tipton & Erin Tipton; a step great granddaughter, Madeline Simpson; her brother, Bob Gilreath & her sister, Ruth Armstrong (both of Surgoinsville) along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Mrs. Crawford will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill or friends may call anytime at the residence of the daughter, Carolyn Anderson, 301 Gilda Avenue, Church Hill.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Pat Hammond & Pastor Eddie McAmis officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at Oakdale Central Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be Brian Anderson, Jonathan Crawford, Jamie Hamilton, Jimmy Tipton, Ethan Crawford & Glen Crawford. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 on Friday, August 18, 2006.
